Remodeling Pool Decking

Are you looking for a modern look, an courtyard feel, or a natural environment – your decking pulls together the backyard feel Ion Double Oak, choose from flagstone, interlocking pavers, and many other options such as textured concrete or stain. The setting you’re looking for can be achieved with the correct decking solution. Decking is an important choice for the overall environmental feel you’re trying to achieve.

As a Double Oak pool owner, you will spend more time on their pool deck than actually inside their swimming pool. During a Double Oak pool remodel, it is important to choose a decorative concrete, stone, or wood pool deck that is beautiful and provides a safe non-slip surface for entertaining and simply socializing.

Tile Decks

Unglazed tile adds a touch of elegance to the Double Oak backyard (Note – Glazed is beautiful, yet slippery). You can find different shapes and sizes from specialty dealers, but square is the most popular. Tile often does a great job replicating wood, stone, marble, or brick. Because tile is not difficult to install, you can make your existing deck larger if you have space.

Pavers

In Double Oak, Pavers are very popular. Pavers come in a number of different sizes, colors, and shapes. Brick Pavers, Concrete Pavers, and Travertine Pavers are some of the most common Double Oak pool remodeling deck pavers. Safety is one of the key features that pool deck pavers offer. Pool deck pavers have a high wear and tear resistance and have a non-slip surface that will last a long time. In your Double Oak Pool Remodel, Pavers can create a range of looks to suit any pool deck.

Stone Decking in Double Oak

Stone decking is a wonderful method for adding a natural aesthetic to your yard. They are are available in many shapes, sizes, and colors. For Pool Remodeling in Double Oak, stone decking is the most popular choice for homeowners who have designed a natural-looking swimming pool with boulders and cascading waterfalls. The stone finish pool deck resurfacing is done by embedding large stones, finely cut into a layer of concrete. This type of pool deck resurfacing is probably the best type of finish, as it not only looks good but has many advantages over the other methods of pool deck resurfacing. Another great advantage of this surface is that it provides natural friction – it is almost slip-proof.

Coping – Double Oak Pool Remodeling

The perfect coping completes the border between your pool and decking or landscaping – it is an important accent. Coping allows you to customize the look of your pool. In Double Oak, there is a wide variety of materials available for coping installation. For your pool remodeling in Double Oak, several items will dictate which material is best to use for each renovation situation: a) the thickness and width of the existing coping b) cost c) and the overall look you have in mind. In many cases Flagstone coping is less expensive than limestone coping and is installed where a customer desires a more rugged, natural look. Limestone and travertine are used where modern, smooth lines will align with the shape of the Double Oak pool.

Plaster – Double Oak Pool Remodeling

Should I Re-Plaster?

For Double Oak Pool Remodeling, there are three questions will help you make this important decision.

#1 Do you experience water loss or see areas delamination in your Double Oak pool?

Water loss can occur based on any number of problems. First, cracks in a Double Oak swimming pool structure can show up through the plaster surface. Also, water can leak through many of the points around a pool (return inlets, light fixtures, etc). If your pool is losing water from somewhere other than plumbing, resurfacing may be a good solution combined with other work. Delamination is an industry term that simply means the plaster is separating from the surface beneath it. This occurs because of inadequate preparation prior to resurfacing. For Double Oak pools, we use the plaster manufacturers’ recommended product and procedure for preparation, which usually protects against delamination

#2 Is your Double Oak pool surface really rough?

As plaster get older, or because of improper chemistry, its surface becomes rough by scaling or etching. In Double Oak, our typical method of “start-up” (care for the first several weeks of plaster life) allows for a smooth-but-not-slick surface designed to add years of life to the plaster. It also makes for a comfortable swim experience.

3# Do you like the current look of your Double Oak pool?

For your Double Oak pool remodeling project, consider your pool a new canvas on which you can customize the look of your pool. We offer many aggregate finishes in a wide variety of beautiful and resilient options that may suit your taste in color and style.

For gunite or concrete pools in Double Oak, plaster is the most desirable finish. It comes in several forms and many color choices. When applied properly, and no underlying structural problems, plaster provides a barrier between the structure of the pool and the water in which you swim.

Step 1 – Project Design & Proposal – Double Oak

The first step in the construction process is an initial meeting between the client and one of our trained design technicians. During this meeting in your Double Oak home, our technician will find out what you are looking for in the overall pool and landscape layout. All of our pools are designed specifically for each individual Double Oak customer. The technician will then take a detailed survey of the proposed area to include your Double Oak home and lot dimensions, positioning, building setbacks, location of utilities, and accessibility to the construction site. Within a few days, our design technician will have a fully prepared plan and proposed construction cost for the pool organized for you to review.

Step 2 – Permits & Approvals – Double Oak

We shall acquire the permit for the construction of the pool and decking. Permits for electric and gas utility hook-ups shall be obtained by the person contracted to do said work. All plans must comply with Double Oak and state building codes. We will call for all applicable inspections, including footer, plumbing, and electrical bonding.

Step 3 – Demolition & Excavation – Double Oak (as needed)

In Double Oak , we generally use small, skid-steer front end loaders in order to precisely trim back the pool walls and to provide added maneuverability within the pool and around the construction site.

Step 4 – Steel & Plumbing Stub-out – Double Oak (as needed)

The Double Oak pool shell is reinforced with Grade 60 #3 steel rebar, placed horizontally and vertically. The horizontal and vertical bars are placed 8″ on center to a depth of five feet. Rough plumbing is done immediately following steel installation. This entails the installation of main drains, skimmers, light niches, return line “stubs” and pre-plumbing of raised spas.

Step 5 – Gunite Application – Double Oak (as needed)

In Double Oak , the pool floor consists of concrete with a compressive strength of 4000 psi, and is a minimum thickness of six inches. The walls of the pool consist of a mixture of sand and cement (gunite) that is applied through a hose with highly pressurized air to achieve a compressive strength of 4000 psi. Because of its superior structural strength, we provide a two year warranty on the pool shell after completion.

Step 6 – Tile & Coping – Double Oak

At this stage of your Double Oak pool remodel, you will be asked to choose a decorative tile for the pool. We have a significant selection of different tiles for you to choose from. No matter what colors, textures and materials are being used for the project, we will have something to fit your taste.

Step 7 – Equipment Setup – Double Oak

An Double Oak experienced installer will come to the site and plumb in all of the filtration equipment for the pool, including water feature pumps and other optional equipment.

Step 8 – Electric & Gas – Double Oak (as needed)

Your Double Oak pool remodel is now ready for Electric & Gas. Electrical conduits for pool lights and for pool equipment power should be run. The breaker box at the location of the pool equipment should be installed and ready for the equipment to be set. Gas lines to the pool heater or heaters should also be run to the equipment location.

Step 9 – Deck Layout & Pour – Double Oak

The deck is a minimum of four inches thick and reinforced with steel rebar approximately 18” on center. For most Double Oak pools, any stone or brick work should be completed before the decking is poured.

Step 10 – Site Cleanup – Double Oak

Your pool remodel in Double Oak is now nearing completion. We will now remove all extraneous construction materials and waste from the construction site and prepare the pool interior to be finished.

Step 11 – Finish Pool – Double Oak

The Double Oak pool interior is coated with your choice of materials. Options include standard white finish, Pebble Tec finish, or one of the many Diamond-Brite brand coatings. When the coating is finished, we begin filling the pool with water. This should be the final stage of construction.

Step 12 – Startup & Instruction – Double Oak

Once your Double Oak pool is full, a service technician will come out to your home to check the installation and start all pool and/or spa equipment. Once the equipment has been started up and the pool is fully operational, our service manager will set up a time to come to your Double Oak home and show you maintenance operations. This includes everything you will need to know about routine maintenance on the pool and some troubleshooting tips.
